ERBIL — The US-led Global Coalition will withdraw 400 military personnel from Syria in an attempt to set the ground for a political resolution to the Syrian crisis, media reports claimed.
There has been no comment by the Coalition on the reports yet.
Earlier this week, a sources from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) claimed that nearly 4,000 US troops are present on Syrian soil, providing the Kurdish-led forces with training, equipment and military advice.
The source also confirmed that the Coalition troops have been actively fighting alongside the SDF fighters against the Islamic State militants.
Two unnamed US officials had previously said that the Pentagon is likely to announce in the coming days that there are about 2,000 US troops in Syria and not 500 as it was stated before.
