Displaced people from Deir ez-Zor who were freed by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and settled in the Sed Camp in Shaddadi are returning to their villages that have been cleared of mines with joint efforts of SDF General Affairs Bureau and Deir ez-Zor Civil Council.

The first group has left for Abu Khasab, Kasra, Suwar, Birsera, Jawhar, Jazrat, Shihel and Diban areas east of Euphrates today. Deir ez-Zor Civil Council and SDF stated that the second group will also be returning to their land in a few days.

Officials from SDF General Affairs Bureau, Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, Sed Refugee Camp and notables of tribes attended a press conference before the leave of the refugees.

The statement said that Deir ez-Zor Civil Council has established a committee to monitor the situation and return of the civilians. It was stated that 103 families will return to their villages today. Preparations are underway for the return of the second group as well.

Notables from Igedat and Begara tribes thanked the camp administrators and SDF fighters for rescuing Deir ez-Zor people from ISIS and transferring them to safe areas.

The Sed Camp in Shaddadi hosts a total of 26 thousand refugees from Deir ez-Zor at the moment.
