ISTANBUL — Kurdish politician and spokesperson for the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Osman Baydemir, was released on Sunday after being shortly detained by Turkish authorities in Istanbul.

Baydemir was arrested at 16:45 local time after arriving at the airport from Hamburg. He was reportedly taken into custody for allegedly “propaganda for a terrorist organisation”.

After receiving his speech, the Bakırköy court released the Kurdish politician.
