ERBIL — Turkish government declared curfew in over 30 villages in the Kurdish province of Bitlis, southeast of the country.

The office of the Ankara-appointed governor of Bitlis confirmed in a statement on its website that the curfew is due to military operations targeting Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members in the region.

Among the villages under curfew, 27 are in the central district whereas eight others are in the Mutki district, as reported by Kurdistan 24.

Turkey and PKK are in a three-decade military clash over the case of Kurds in the country. apart from armed forces of both the sides, hundreds of thousands of civilians have been affected by the conflicts.
