Three rockets hit near Afrin Hospital, casualties reported

AFRIN, Syrian Kurdistan (Kurdistan 24) – Three Turkish rocket strikes landed near the Afrin Hospital in Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava) on Tuesday.

“One civilian is dead, and many injured,” Kurdistan 24 Correspondent in Afrin, Akram Salih, reported.

In addition to human casualties, the rockets have damaged the nearby buildings and properties, Akram said.

Since Jan. 20, Turkey has begun an air and ground offensive in Rojava, targeting the US-backed Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and their all-female brigade, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), in the Afrin region.

So far, more than one hundred civilians have been killed and over a thousand more wounded, according to Afrin Hospital.

Turkey brands the YPG/YPJ and ruling PYD as an extension of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU, and the US.
